Google Sheets report generator: from spreadsheet to PDF

Dashboard built from fictional sales data

A client update usually needs a few clear totals, useful charts and a file that is ready to send. Instant Sheet Reports is a Google Sheets report generator that starts with the data and formulas already in your spreadsheet.

1. Start with a readable source sheet

Use a heading for each column, such as Region, Account, Revenue and Cost. Keep each table’s records together. Formula totals can sit outside the table: the report engine looks for those calculations too. Our fictional sales example includes a revenue total, net profit and orders fulfilled.

2. Generate the dashboard

Install the Chrome extension, open your Google Sheet, then choose Instant Sheet Reports from Chrome’s Extensions menu. Sign in with Google to start the 14-day trial. The extension reads your sheet and suggests tables, charts and KPI widgets without an AI prompt.

3. Check the automatic choices

Review the detected headers, ranges, totals and chart measures before sharing. Automatic recognition is a starting point, not an audit of your spreadsheet. Add a manual cell widget for a missed calculation or choose the category and measure for a manual chart.

4. Make it client-ready

Click a widget or chart to change its title, color and labels. Choose a layout and chart style, hide tables you do not want to share, and adjust the report header and Prepared by name. Presentation settings are saved separately for each spreadsheet and worksheet within this edition.

5. Download PDF

Click Download PDF in the dashboard or its live pop-out. The PDF downloads directly; your browser may ask for download permission. Open the file and check its labels and page layout before sending. The finished PDF is a snapshot: later spreadsheet edits do not change a file you already shared.

Need a browser presentation instead?

Choose HTML → Open HTML in new tab to open a finished standalone snapshot, or HTML → Download HTML to save it. The live dashboard pop-out stays linked to the sheet; the exported HTML does not.
